Fellowship Summary
The Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS) announces the SG Academies South-East Asia Fellowship (SASEAF) Programme 2025, offering fully funded two-year postdoctoral research opportunities for talented early-career scientists from ASEAN countries. This prestigious programme enables outstanding researchers to collaborate with Singapore’s leading research institutions.

FOCUS
Candidates may propose any field of research done in Singapore research institutions. The following research topics are preferred but not mandatory: 1) Infectious Diseases*, 2) Population Health/Public Health, and 3) Sustainability (including Urban Agriculture).
*Candidates working on infectious diseases topics may take part in the PREPARE programme by NRF and MOH (National Programme for Research in Epidemic Preparedness and Response: PREPARE).
FELLOWSHIP SUPPORT
- A monthly stipend ranging from S$4,000 to S$6,500. The exact figure will depend on the experience and performance of the fellow.
- An additional S$4,000 will be provided for overseas travel at the start and end of the 2-year-long fellowship period.
- Access to professional development opportunities (events, seminars and training programmes).
- Form lasting connections and partnerships with SASEA Fellows and Singapore.
ELIGIBILITY
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of an ASEAN country and non-Singapore-based. Not applicable to Singapore citizens or Singapore PRs.
- Degree: Applicants must have a PhD degree from a reputable institution and be currently working/have a confirmed job offer in a public-sector research entity in their home country.
- Age limit: Applicants should not be more than 40 years old at the time of application.
- Language: Applicants must be fluent in written and oral English.

- Research Proposal (no longer than 2 pages) developed in consultation with the host professor(s) / PI(s) at the Singapore University.
- Host professor/PI’s in-principle approval with his/her official email ID
- Certified copies of diplomas and transcripts.
- Two recommendation letters from referees (e.g., current/past supervisors, collaborators, etc.) stating the candidate’s suitability for this fellowship. The letters should be submitted directly by the candidate’s referee (download)

- Academic Qualifications & Performance (15%)
- Work experience in public research institutions (15%)
- Relevance of proposed research in region (15%)
- Quality of proposal (20%)
- Direct benefit of proposed research to Singapore & home country (15%)
- Influence in home organisation (10%)
- Likelihood of continuing science research in home country after fellowship (10%)
