Overview of UNIL Master’s Grants 2026
The University of Lausanne (UNIL) in Switzerland is offering its highly competitive Master’s Scholarships for the 2026 academic year. These grants are designed for international students with outstanding academic achievements who wish to pursue a Master’s degree at one of Europe’s top-ranked institutions.
Each year, UNIL awards around ten merit-based scholarships to exceptional candidates from abroad. The aim is to support academic excellence and promote international mobility at the postgraduate level.

You can apply for any Master’s degree offered by UNIL, except the following:

Master from the School of Medicine

Master of Education
-
Master of Law from Universities of Zurich and Lausanne

Master of Criminal Law, Magistracy specialization
-
Master of Science in Physical Education and Sports Didactics
-
Master of Science in Health Sciences
-
All MAS (Master of Advanced Studies) and PhD programs
Only two specializations in the Master of Law—International and Comparative Law and Legal Theory—are eligible for this scholarship.

Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the UNIL Master’s Scholarship will receive:

CHF 1,600 per month for 10 months a year

Funding for the full statutory duration of the program (up to 2 years)

Exemption from fixed registration fees, except a CHF 80 fee per semester
Note: This amount may not fully cover living expenses in Switzerland. Applicants are encouraged to check UNIL’s estimated student budget guide before applying.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the University of Lausanne Master’s Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

Be a graduate of a foreign university (outside Switzerland)

Have excellent academic performance

Not have previously enrolled at UNIL
-
Meet the language requirements:

French or English (minimum B2 level on the CEFR scale)

Have obtained or be in the process of obtaining a degree equivalent to a Swiss Bachelor’s before the start of the Master’s

Pay a CHF 200.00 administration fee
